Winter Racing Series

winter_race_series1Just registered for the Salt Lake Track Club’s Winter Racing Series. It’s a 5k, 10k, 15k series with each event two weeks apart. I’m looking forward to it for some motivation to keep my legs in gear and not lose all the fitness gained from marathon training. So I guess I’ll set out goals for the series…I’ll take a handy look at my McMillian Running calculator to see what equivalent performances would be then toss those out the window and make up something faster than I should ever even think about running…

Here goes…

5k – McMillan says 18:52 would be equivalent with a 3:03:51 marathon. Let’s say 18:30 just because I’m foolhardy and not so bright…

10k – McMillan says 39:11. I’m gonna shoot for 38:45 and be optimistic…surely the glass is half full.

15k – McMillan says 1:00:42. I know I’m gonna go sub 1 hour flat…it’s a requirement…

So there goes…it’s been said. We’ll see how this whole thing goes. And how much it ends up kicking my butt and making me regret making any kind of predictions.
